Held among iconic company in the fifth position in 100 Greatest American Currency Notes by Bowers and Sundman, little is needed to understand as to why this design ranked as highly as it did when that book was published in 2006. The full-length vignette entitled Electricity Presenting Light to the World is perhaps one of the most recognizable compositions in the numismatic canon within the realm of paper money and accounts for a dramatic presence that lends the design a sense of gravitas and grandeur foreign to most compositions even compared to those from the Nineteenth Century. This particular example has spent ample time in circulation seeing its purpose achieved time and time again before circumstance prompted its preservation. The paper body has darkened with age through the circumstances of circulation. However, the elements which have upheld this design among iconic company and in the minds of collectors and dealers remain bold and will undoubtedly propel this piece to a firm realization once the hammer falls on this lot.
