Issued at some point between 1906 and 1909 owing to the Vernon - Treat signature combination. This Series of 1899 $1 Silver Certificate is certainly superior to most of its known counterparts on account of the grade assigned by PMG. A remarkable level of eye appeal belies the technical qualities endemic to this specimen such as the contrast between both the engraved and unengraved elements of the design. The centermost vignette entitled The Eagle of the Capitol traces a particularly distinguished history having been used during the 1860s on the $10 Interest Bearing and Compound Interest Treasury Notes and offers one of the most attractive and popular compositions of the period and one that has been a long-term favorite of collectors. This is indeed an item sure to see its share of demand from collectors looking to assemble a complete convocation of Black Eagles.
