Seal style calligraphy populates one side, while Heaton s calling card in English stands on the other. Brassy-yellow in hue, and with immense lustrous brilliance, this EXCEEDINGLY RARE example should generate great enthusiasm, especially for the aficionados of similar western mint advertising issues made for China s emerging coining system. These pieces were produced by the Heaton Mint for use as samples to be given to Chinese dignitaries and to show the quality of the work done by the minting equipment. As such, the goal was to garner contracts to sell minting equipment to the Chinese government.
