NGC MS-61. 珍稀度：★★★★。齿边，反面底部带铭文。极其稀罕的一枚，长久以来广受追捧，最近更愈益受欢迎。此枚更是金铸版，作为异质打铸，绝对所有藏家的不懈追求。此无与伦比的珍品明亮而有光泽，橄榄黄色闪闪生辉，绚丽无比，设计亦全方位细腻呈现，包括当时刚满六十七岁的徐世昌，或是反面亭子附近的树叶，金光依然尽现。仔细可见非常轻浅的磨擦痕迹，致未能得更高分。资深中国集藏中常见从缺的一枚，热衰程度历久不衰。 曾被以为是样币，但似乎更贴近纪念章的性质，相信应在北京协和医学堂开幕之时送出。凉亭底部原为雕刻受赠者名称而留空，后来出品第一批后发现操作困难而更改设计为雕刻"纪念币"三字。 L&M-1093; K-1570; WS-0067; Wenchao-40 (rarity: ★★★★). Variety with reeded edge and with legend at bottom of reverse. An IMMENSE RARITY , this design represents an already exceedingly popular and important type that simply grows in desirability. When accounting for its off-metal nature as a presentation striking in gold, the interest created is simply incomparable. Featuring an olive-yellow hue to the gold, this incredibly brilliant and lustrous specimen certainly dazzles and entertains the eye, radiating even within the more refined aspects of the design, such as the hair of then -president Hsu Shih-chang, who had recently turned 67 , or within the leaves in the trees near the namesake pavilion upon the reverse. Some very minor cabinet friction is noted, accounting for the grade, as this magnificent example would otherwise garner a Choice designation. Worthy of the most advanced of cabinets devoted to vintage Chinese numismatics, as it is undoubtedly lacking from most. An incredibly popular and desirable type believed to have been a pattern issue, it now appears that these were, in fact, more medallic in nature, and meant to be given out upon the opening of the Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), the facade of which is displayed upon the reverse. Initially designed with a blank field below the pavilion for the intended recipient s name to be engraved, the reverse was altered slightly to contain the characters "紀念幣" between two rosettes, as the engraving proved difficult on the initial batch.
