Variety with reeded edge and no signature. Displaying some pleasing deep gray-olive toning as well as very little in the way of actual handling, this wholesome specimen serves as a great representative from a brief imperial period during the opening years of the republic. Featuring the bust of Yuan Shih-kai in a plumed shako ( an obverse design carried over from a type two years prior ), it displays a flying dragon on the reverse, and signifies the creation of the brief empire under Yuan--namely that of the Hung-Hsien era. A RARE and highly attractive example that should entertain great fanfare from an adoring collector base.
