PCGS MS-61. 齿边，底下有铭文。无瑕品相颇 珍罕 ，此枚亦然。熠熠生辉，车轮光炫目。正面为徐世昌像，反面刻画中南海怀仁堂。压铸精良，跻身任何高端中国钱币藏匣都不会逊色。 此版深受欢迎，被认为是样币，但于本质上来説应是奖章，为纪念北京协和医院开幕所铸。原铸版凉亭底下留空，方便刻上受章者名字，因在首批初试雕刻姓名难度过高，其后版别改为""纪念币""三字。 L&M-864; K-676; WS-0101; Chang-CH234. Variety with reeded edge and with legend at bottom of reverse. Quite RARE when encountered problem-free, as is the case here , this enchanting specimen boasts tremendous radiance and luster that cartwheels upon each side. The design, initially thought to celebrate then -president Hsu Shih-chang s 67th birthday, in fact served as a commemorative for the opening of the Peking Union Medical College--a corner of which is featured upon the reverse. Exquisitely struck, allowing this example to serve as a wondrous addition to an advanced cabinet of vintage Chinese numismatics. An incredibly popular and desirable type believed to have been a pattern issue, it now appears that these were, in fact, more medallic in nature, and meant to be given out upon the opening of the Peking Union Medical College (PUMC), the facade of which is displayed upon the reverse. Initially designed with a blank field below the pavilion for the intended recipient s name to be engraved, the reverse was altered slightly to contain the characters "紀念幣" between two rosettes, as the engraving proved difficult on the initial batch.
