CC-72. Continental Currency. April 11, 1778. $5. PCGS Banknote Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 PPQ.No. 105150. Signed by E. Ryves and W. Hardy. Printed by Hall and Sellers, 1778. This superb note is one of the highest graded from the entire "Yorktown" issue of April 1778. While an aggregate of $25,000,000 was authorized, most all of this issue was called for exchange the following year due to extensive British counterfeiting which has resulted in their great rarity today. Listing this notes attributes would be redundant as it clearly possesses all that are needed for the Superb Gem grade. We might mention that the PMG census shows only one $5 Yorktown note in uncirculated condition, that being a 63. Clearly an outstanding opportunity for the advanced collector of Continental Currency to acquire both quality and rarity. PCGS Banknote Pop 1/None Finer. From the Mid-Continent Collection.
