1852 Silver Three-Cent Piece. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC.An intriguing piece, this coin warrants careful study prior to bidding. Although certified as a "regular strike" by PCGS, and being offered as such in this sale, there are curious features to this piece that suggest it might be a Mint error. There is a shallow depression running around much of the coins edge and, although boldly struck elsewhere, the lower and right obverse borders are a bit soft with metal flow toward the edge. Although this is only conjecture since the coin has not been weighed or otherwise evaluated along these lines, the planchet might have been slightly underweight or too small in diameter. Satiny surfaces are fully lustrous with pretty champagne-pink and powder blue iridescence. Offered strictly as certified by PCGS, as above, yet perhaps worthy of additional consideration by Mint error specialists.PCGS# 3666.
