1868 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-65 (PCGS).Shimmering fields and satiny motifs are dressed in richly original toning. Both sides exhibit a base of soft pearl-gray with mottled overtones of reddish-russet and olive. The Guide Book suggests a Proof mintage for the date of 600 pieces, though that figure probably refers to silver Proof sets and may not take into account pieces sold individually. While about 550 remain from the total mintage, only about 180 of these are known at the Gem level. This superior specimen is sure to catch the eye of discerning numismatists.PCGS# 3718.
