1976-S Kennedy Half Dollar--Double Struck, Both Broadstruck--Proof-63 Cameo (NGC). Struck twice in the absence of a collar, the planchet shifted slightly to the lower right (relative to ones view of the obverse) in between impressions. The result is a full and generally sharp second impression with fairly bold remnants of the first strike evident toward the upper left obverse and lower left reverse. The planchet has expanded in those directions, as well, and there are thin unstruck portions along the upper right obverse and lower left reverse. Pleasingly cameoed in finish, this is a captivating and rare major Mint error on a modern U.S. Mint Proof coin.
