1999-P Roosevelt Dime--Detached Double Struck Thin Clad Layer--MS-63 (PCGS). This fascinating error started as a thin clad layer that detached from a copper-nickel clad planchet. It was struck twice with considerable rotation between strikes, although evidence for the first impression requires patience to discern. On the "obverse" of this clad layer are portions of the central Roosevelt dime design, including part of the presidents portrait and a nearly complete date. The "reverse" shows only a mirror image of part of the obverse detail. Pretty iridescent toning on the former side further enhances the appeal of this visually intriguing error.
