Engraved Occupational Love Token Fashioned out of a No Motto New Orleans Mint Liberty Seated Half Dollar. The obverse of the host coin has an ornate border surrounding engravings of a trowel, square and plumb, which have the initials A.W.G. around them. These represent the name and occupation of a stone mason or brick layer. As can be seen, the coin originally had a pinback, but it has been removed. This was most likely made sometime in the 1850s or 1860s.From the Steve M. Tompkins Collection.
