Engraved Fraternal Stickpin Fashioned out of an 1854-Dated Liberty Head Half Eagle.The reverse of the host coin depicts a nicely engraved border encompassing an enameled five-pointed star with white, green, red, blue and orange enamel. A pentagon is in the center of the star containing a black enameled border and black enameled letters F A </em>T A L. An intact and working pinback is mounted on the back with a stickpin on a chain attached by a hole in the coin. An exquisite and well executed piece in excellent condition. This is the symbol of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Masonic organization mainly for women. The initials “F.A.T.A.L.” are said to stand for the phrase, “Fairest Among Thousands, Altogether Lovely,” a reference from the Song of Songs.
