Love Token Broach Fashioned out of an 1877-Dated Mexican 8 reales.The reverse of the host coin is engraved with the stylized script letters of MGM, with three linked rings above, all surrounded by a rope border. The coin itself is mounted between two large silver rectangles with detailed borders. There is a large intact and working pinback attached across the back of the rectangles. The three linked rings are for the Odd Fellows Society, of which the owner of this piece was likely a member. The piece weighs 50 grams and is 4 1/4" wide. A very heavy and sturdy piece that would do serious damage to modern clothing!From the Steve M. Tompkins Collection.
