A.R. BARRETT curved / (eagle) counterstamped on the both sides of an 1834 Matron Head large cent. Brunk-Unlisted, Rulau-Unlisted. Host coin Very Fine.According to Sellers (2nd edition - 2008), A.R. Barrett & Co. were gunsmiths operating in Wytheville, VA in 1861-64 and supplied rifles to the Confederacy during the Civil War. This stamp was most likely used to mark some of their products.
