Host coin Very Good.These are the marks of Jacob Wood (1809-1850), a silversmith working in New York City from 1834 to 1850. He was in a partnership with William Gale and Jasper Ward Hughes as GALE, WOOD & HUGHES from 1836 to 1845 and then as WOOD & HUGHES from 1845 to his death in 1850. Their shop was initially located at 116 Fulton, and then 16 John Street. These marks were used to mark their silver products.From the Steve M. Tompkins Collection.
