CHILE. 8 Escudos, 1845-So IJ. Santiago Mint. NGC MS-62. KM-104.2; Onza-1651. Three-year type; variety with incuse "FEBRERO" on edge. Struck in bright lemon-yellow gold, this Mint State example showcases wonderful definition in the designs with a compliment of sparkling luster in the fields. For the grade, very few marks are seen, although a few small planchet imperfections, which are customary for the type, appear on the date side. As a type, VERY RARE in this quality, with only four seen among all dates with none graded finer.A remarkable novelty among coins of all ages, this issue goes beyond the standard annual dating, and records the actual month that the specie for the coin was suppled to the mint in incuse lettering on the edge. For the advanced specialist, this gives the opportunity to collect all the months in a given year -- what an amazing sight that would be!</em> From the Oro del Nuevo Mundo Collection.
