Host coin Very Good.Louis Millers hair invigorator was apparently not his original creation, as he copied both the product and bottle design from another successful salesman -- Ed Phalon. Only Miller seems to have advertised with counterstamped coinage however. Miller operated a barber shop at 295 Bowery St, in New York City starting in 1848 and adding baths in 1852. Sometime in the mid-1850s his address changed to 289 Bowery St. In 1860, we find two Louis Millers listed as barbers, one at 56 Dey St. and the other at 2 Waverly Place. Which is the Louis we have been following is unknown. Seven different L. Miller’s counterstamp types are known and enumerated in the Brunk reference. There are several other dates of early 2 reales reported with this stamp, as well as an 1853 quarter and one 1840 Mexican 2 reales.
