T-3. Confederate Currency. 1861 $100. PMG Very Fine 25.No. 1535, Plate A. Major and Assistant Quartermaster George W. Clarke issued this $100 Montgomery note on June 12, 1861 as seen by his neatly penned manuscript endorsement on the back of the note. There is also an interest paid manuscript from John W. ONeill of the Confederate Depository at Washington, Arkansas stating that he paid out $4.25 for 14 months interest. The black printed vignettes on the face are sharply detailed while the green border prints and tint are boldly colored. PMG comments "Restoration, Previously Mounted" on the back of the holder though the note faces up nicely and has manuscript endorsements.
