1795 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-6a. Rarity-2. Plain Edge, No Pole. Thin Planchet--Overstruck on a Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent--VF-30 (PCGS). This is the second of two 1795 C-6a half cents in this sale with particularly bold remnants of the Talbot, Allum & Lee cent undertype. On this coin, the full word LEE, the &, and part of the words ALLUM, YORK and the ships rigging are plainly evident along the lower obverse border, obscuring the date for the half cent. At the upper right reverse border, one can see a nearly complete word LIBERTY from the undertype, the words STATES OF in the half cents legend soft to absent. Steely antique copper surfaces exhibit suitably bold detail to all other elements of the half cents design. A planchet depression at the upper left obverse is as made, a couple of tiny edge nicks at 9 oclock on the same side noted for accuracy. A visually impressive piece that will surely catch the eye of advanced half cent enthusiasts. Manley Die State 2.0.
