Undated (1881) Pynchon House medal by J.A. Bolen. Silver. 25.3 mm. 163.6 grains. Musante JAB-39. MS-64 (NGC). Deeply toned with highlights of soft blue-green, gold and rose over deep silver gray surfaces. Nicely prooflike in the fields and boldly struck with strong detail through the distinctive architectural motif of the obverse as well as the reverse legends. One of just 10 examples reported to have been struck in silver, the most desired of the compositions, and certainly the rarest. From our sale of August 2017, lot 65.
