Santa Fe, Territory of New Mexico. $10 1882 Brown Back. Fr. 484. The First NB. Charter #1750. PMG Fine 12.This long running Santa Fe bank was originally chartered way back in December of 1870, more than 40 years before New Mexico achieved statehood. Due to that fact this charter provides a significant number of the known New Mexico Territorial issues including the $10 Brown Back offered here. This is one of six $10 Brown Backs known on the state, all of which are pre-statehood issues. This example displays neatly penned bank officers signatures and bold design elements despite the heavier degree of circulation. The grading service has found no impairing attributes worthy of comment and the note retains a decent overall appearance. This is another great New Mexico note that has been off the market for quite some time until now.
