Albuquerque, Territory of New Mexico. $10 1902 Date Back. Fr. 616. The State NB. Charter #7186. PMG Very Fine 30.The State National Bank of Albuquerque was chartered in March of 1904, ironically before New Mexico was actually a state. It issued Series of 1902 Red Seals and Date Backs as Territorial notes and then non-Territorial Date Backs and Plain Backs from 1912 until going into receivership in April of 1924. In 20 years the bank issued a touch over $1.7 million in National Currency using only the $10 and $20 denomination. Of the 21 notes recorded in the census for the bank, ten are territorials. This is certainly one of the more appealing notes we have ever seen on the bank as it displays just light circulation along with sharply printed dark inks and strong signatures. It has been more than 20 years since this note was available to the collecting public and it is sure to be appreciated by a new generation of collectors.
