1828 Matron Head Cent. N-6. Rarity-1. Large Narrow Date. MS-65 BN (PCGS).A truly mesmerizing Gem showcasing substantial blooms of tangerine Mint color across each side. In fact, when offered in August 2017 this specimen had carried a Red Brown color designation from PCGS. The complexion is otherwise painted in powder-blue and violet shades that radiate under a light source. Areas of thick patina at the E of UNITED and on the leaf below the first A of AMERICA are the only notable blemishes throughout. Well centered on the obverse and pulled slightly towards 11 oclock on the reverse. The usual rust pits on the obverse are somewhat lessened by die wear seen here in Noyes Die State D/A, and the crack at star 9 is fully formed. Among the finest known of both the type and the variety, with just two coins certified finer by PCGS across all 1828 Large Narrow Date varieties. From the Paradise Collection. Earlier ex Heritages sale of August 2017, lot 3058; Heritages sale of April 2018, lot 3089.
