COLOMBIA. Banco Nacional de la República de Colombia. 25 Pesos, March 4, 1895. P-237s. Specimen. The lower denomination from a distinctive series printed by Franklin Lee Bank Note Co. (or “FLBC”) This is an impressive bond paper specimen note. Issued notes are found from this series and type, but specimen notes are much rarer. The green and orange multicolor face is spectacular with the two vignettes. The back is brown. Stamped SPECIMEN in red, but in small letters in the field. There is a printer’s stamp noted, but it is light. Apparently from the ABN Archives, but we are uncertain what lot this came from in either sale. The superior example (Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ) reached $2,040 in the first sale. This should approach that level as the final available P-237s example from this landmark collection. This fits into many different world collecting topics.
