拍品描述 COLOMBIA. Banco Nacional de la República de Colombia. 1000 Pesos, March 4, 1895. P-241s. Specimen. This type is an epic rarity from Colombia and among the most beautiful. It is the highest denomination printed for the Banco Nacional, and as such is a key type. Commencing in 1923, the highest denomination printed was only 500 Pesos. An exceedingly rare bond paper specimen note with zero serial numbers and stamped twice in red on the engraved signatures. The second denomination from this Franklin Lee Bank Note Co. printed series. An exceptionally well produced type with allegorical female at the left end. Rose and blue face tint. The back is red with princess in the center wearing a headdress. There were only two Specimen notes in the 1990 ABN sale; one each in lots 753 and 754 (an odd, mixed banks group). The type was at least illustrated in the color plates of that important Christie’s sale catalog. The centering is not perfect, but the paper quality is. The only other example from the ABN lots and Eldorado Part 1 realized $21,600. The issued P-241 note realized $30,000. One of the highlights of the Eldorado Collection and its next owner will curate a remarkable collection anchored by this beautiful example of an immense rarity.
