COLOMBIA. Banco Nacional de los Estados Unidos de Colombia. 20 Centavos. ND (1885?). P-Unlisted.This is an intriguing note. The host note for the oval surcharge on the back is a small format Nuñez portrait P-122 style piece with brown back as originally printed. Lithographed by Imp Chaix (in France). Series Y. Portrait center, very light blue undertint as listed for P-122, with titles partly abbreviated. The brown back with oval "EL CAJERO" [cashier] stamping. Very specialized and worthy of close examination. A P-122 Nuñez issued note realized $2,800 in last years Ward Collection sale. The P-122 Plate Note was from Amon Carter and sold in the December 1997 Spink America sale (in a hard to figure large lot of course), but that lot was a four-figure one. The conclusion that P-122 is a key type is not evident by its paltry catalog value. Uncertified. Four small punch hole cancels near corners. Two back corner bald spots and hint of scotch tape on the lower right corner from former mounting. Another difficult note to estimate.
