1800/79 Draped Bust Cent. S-192. Rarity-3. Style II Hair. EF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).,This is an uncommonly attractive coin for the assigned grade, the surfaces evenly toned in deep charcoal-copper with a generally smooth appearance in hand. The strike is a bit off center to the left on the obverse, affecting only the denticulation from 8 to 2 oclock. Otherwise we note universally bold definition on both sides, the more protected areas of Libertys portrait quite sharply detailed. A loupe reveals overall light roughness to the texture, thereby explaining the PCGS qualifier, but there are no mentionable marks. This is a conditionally challenging die marriage of the 1800 cent, the Condition Census ranging in grade MS-63 to VF-30 based on EAC standards. The collector envelope accompanying this lot states that the present example was CC#5 as of the 1958 census. Noyes Die State A.,From the RSC Collection. Earlier ex George H. Clapp, acquired in trade, 1944. Collector envelope with attribution and provenance notes included.,
