1797 Draped Bust Cent. S-127. Rarity-4. Reverse of 1797, With Stems. VF Details--Environmental Damage (NGC).;The merits of this piece extend well beyond the assigned grade and qualifier, offering an overall complexion that is both wholesome and attractive. The patina is composed of tobacco and chestnut hues, with scattered mahogany tones throughout the obverse. Libertys portrait and the adjacent field show just a negligible granularity, but this is both commensurate for the issue and entirely unnoticed without a glass. The surfaces are otherwise glossy and smooth, free from any significant blemishes. Struck just slightly off-center to the northwest, the devices retain impressive definition that hints at EF preservation in many respects. A truly pleasing piece that fans of early copper will be smart to examine.;From the Dr. Gordon Shaw Collection. Ex J. M. Gramlich of Fayetteville, NY, March 1948; EAC Auction of 1983, lot 180. Collector envelope included.
