1794 Liberty Cap Cent. S-30. Rarity-1. Head of 1794. AU-58 BN (NGC).;Attractive and fairly uniform olive-brown surfaces with slightly deeper accents on the high points. Soft luster remains in the fields on this piece, which suffered little actual circulation wear. A trace of natural surface debris clings to some of the design elements and some ancient abrasions are noted on the highest area of relief. These are barely visible at all without magnification and both the sharpness and overall surface quality make for a very pleasing example of the "marred field" variety upon first inspection. A small rim bump on the reverse is noted for accuracy. Walter Breens Die State IV, described as having a "faint crack-like flaw across the neck." This feature is very faint indeed, though it is discernible under close study. Large chip in the left obverse field from which the "marred field" name comes. Heavy clash marks on both sides.;From Heritages sale of the Adam Mervis Collection, January 2014, lot 2454.
