NERVA, A.D. 96-98. AR Denarius, Rome Mint, A.D. 97. NGC Ch VF. RIC-19; RSC-113. Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: Libertas standing left, holding pileus and scepter. This Denarius features an unusually fine portrait of Nerva on its lightly toned and lustrous flan. Some tiny marks on the reverse fields are visible under a loupe, but the surfaces are altogether quite original. Displaying full legends and a sharp strike, this is a great example of the first and most elusive of the famous "Five Good Emperors".
