BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, ND (1618-19)-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). Philip III. PCGS Genuine--Salt Water Damage, VF Details.KM-9; Cal-Type-149. Weight: 13.25 gms. A wonderful survivor from the Atocha wreck, this piece retains high-quality surfaces with minimal corrosion from saltwater. Because of its oblong flan, much peripheral detail appears. On the obverse, the first few letters of the monarchs name are legible on the right. A bold mintmark and assayers initial appear on the opposite side, and the nearly complete Habsburg shield is displayed in the center. The reverse shows a pleasingly complete central octolobe with castles and lions. Though the final digit of the date is missing, because of the assayer we know the coin must have been minted in 1618 or 1619. This attractive piece is sure to entice collectors of shipwreck Cobs.
Includes original Certificate of Authenticity from Treasure Salvors, Inc.To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click here. From the Pat Johnson Collection.

Ex: Atocha shipwreck, sunk on 6 September 1622 off the coast of what is now the Florida Keys, certificate # 85A-164053.
