BOLIVIA. Cob 4 Reales, 1621-P. Potosi Mint; Assayer Juan Jimenez de Tapia (T). PCGS VF-30.KM-9; Cal-Type-149; Sellschopp-412. Weight: 13.18 gms. Variety with transposed reverse lions and castles. This warmly toned cob offers a strikingly clear assayers mark on the obverse and an easily legible date on the reverse. As the coin was struck in 1621, the year that Philip III died and Philip IV ascended the throne, it is not clear under whose reign this piece was struck since no ordinal is visible. A highly interesting piece from a key year in the series. To view all items from the Pat Johnson Collection, click here. From the Pat Johnson Collection.
