1794 S-54 R2 PCGS XF Detail Environmental Damage. Rather glossy dark steel and olive brown. Looks perfectly smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals extremely faint roughness in the fields and protected areas. No verdigris and only a few trivial marks. The notable ones are a tiny planchet chip between the L & I in LIBERTY, another at the dentils over the right side of the E in AMERICA, and a light scratch hidden in the toning between the S & T in STATES. E-MDS, Breen state II, with an uncracked obverse and light die clashmarks on the reverse. "H-7" is neatly written on the edge two times in yellowing ink (although this is the Hays-11 die variety). Graded EF40 net VF25 and tied for CC#11 in the Noyes census, his photo #36287. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF25+. Comes with a very nice provenance that has been traced back over a century. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS #35624. <DOTLEADER> Estimated Value $3,000 - UP <I><BR>Ex William W. Hays 1900-Charles Steigerwalt-Henry O. Granberg-William H.
