1794 S-43 R2+ PCGS XF Detail Environmental Damage. Slightly glossy dark steel and olive brown. The surfaces are a bit dull thanks to uniform extremely fine granularity that covers both sides. No notable verdigris or contact marks, and the eye appeal is nice in spite of the imperfect surfaces. A small chip on the rim over the second T in STATES can help identify this cent. Nicely struck MDS, Breen state IV, with die cracks on both sides and the reverse rotated 35 degrees clockwise. In addition there is a fine but clearly defined double profile from the forehead down to the chin (as often seen on this variety). Not evaluated by Noyes or Bland. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF25. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. <DOTLEADER> Estimated Value $3,000 - UP <I><BR>Source unrecorded-Dr. Mark D. Cadden Collection.</I>
