1794 S-36 R5 PCGS graded XF40, CAC Approved. Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. The surfaces are smooth and this cent has choice eye appeal. The only notable marks are a thin diagonal nick below the eye, a tiny rim bruise under the bust tip, another over the M in AMERICA, and a final rim bruise over the second A in AMERICA. None of these contact marks is significant or at all distracting. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state I late, with a faint die crack joining the tops of the E & D in UNITED but no additional die cracks on the reverse and no clashmarks on either side. Graded VF30 net VF25 and tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, his photo #21810. Bland says VF25 and tied for CC#5. Our grade is VF30 net VF25. A premium example of this tough die variety, and it comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Boka provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer in 50.
