Republic Bank Note Co. Litho-Vignettes Album. The album shows some light speckled tone. It is held together by four hole punches that are woven together. The company was founded by George W. Goldsworthy in 1905 in Pittsburgh. After a few decades, he merged the company with the Security Bank Note Co. in 1942. This album contains 94 pages, the last handful of which are blank. The rest of the album pages contains a treasure trove of just under 600 vignettes of all different shapes and sizes. We see many mythological vignettes, men and women, animals, locomotive vignettes, occupational vignettes, etc. These vignettes and portraits were used to print bonds and stock certificates, among other uses. The best part of being able to research these is that all of the vignettes are numbered. Individually if one were to cut out all of these vignettes there is several thousand dollars worth of market value. A real treasure trove of artistry.
