CC-46. Continental Currency. July 22, 1776. $30. PMG About Uncirculated 55.No. 8162. Signed by W. Masters and John Williams. The face emblem shows a wreath on a tomb. Latin motto SI RECTE FACIES, which Newman translates "If you act righteously you will be honored after death." This $30 denomination shows the dual emblem back with motifs designed by Benjamin Franklin. Beginning with this issue, the $30 note replaced the $1 note and was found in each emission henceforward. Well accomplished signatures and bold printing are noted. Wide margins are seen on both sides of this pleasing Continental. In our March Baltimore sale this year, we sold a tightly margined PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 for $1,800, as well as a PMG About Uncirculated 58 with a tear for $720. An impressive Continental that looks Crisp Uncirculated at a glance and it will fit nicely with any high-grade set.
