Circa 1859 Washington Equestrian / Pro Patria medal by Robert Lovett, Jr. from the Hodge Series. Musante GW-250, Baker-270. Silver. Reeded edge. MS-64 (PCGS).31.6 mm. 173.4 grains. Deep steel gray on the obverse with attractive rose, blue-green and lighter gray mottling. The reverse is lighter silver with soft pastel mottling. A bit of light handling is evident in the reflective fields. This piece was struck over an example of GW-254, Robert Lovett Jr.’s Siege of Boston medal. Clear evidence of the undertype is seen on both sides. A neat piece, undoubtedly very rare.
