Troy, New York. The Central Bank of Troy. 1859. $3. Fine.(NY-2685 S10). Spurious type with imprint of Bald, Cousland & Co., New-York. Top center, over the title, Santa Claus on the roof (RWHE style die). Lower left, New York die. Lower right, cameo. Interesting and uncommon. The Santa Claus die is fairly well engraved. Interestingly, they used the correct imprint, but had no desire to make a counterfeit die of the more complex George Baldwin Santa vignette die (Durand Type III). That makes this type worthy of better reflection as a "neat" note. Some minor stains and paper thinning are observed on this otherwise well printed and nicely displayed note.
