MARC ANTONY & OCTAVIA. Ionia, Ephesus. AR Cistophorus, 39 B.C. ICG VF 35.CRI-263; RPC-2202; Syd-1198. Obverse: Jugate heads of Marc Antony, wearing ivy wreath, and Octavia right; Reverse: Dionysus, holding cantharus and thyrsus, standing left on cista mystica; interlaced serpents to left and right. An attractively toned piece with only light wear, this well centered example is worthy of close consideration and a premium bid. A great portrait of the couple. Incorrectly listed on the holder as Cleopatra VII rather than Octavia.
