BRUTUS. AR Denarius (3.79 gms), Military Mint Traveling with Brutus in Lycia, 42 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.Cr-501/1; CRI-199; Syd-1287. Obverse: Head of Libertas right; Reverse: Lyre; quiver to left, filleted laurel branch to right. Commonly encountered with some striking and metal issues owing to the fact that they were produced while marching with Brutus as he made his way through Lycia, this particular piece features a flan of good metal and a great deal of luster still remaining. The only aspect preventing a higher strike designation is the minor off centering to the reverse strike.
