Repaired.Alaskan national banknotes have always held a certain alluring quality; perhaps its visions of the Northern Lights or the mystique of the Midnight Sun. For whatever reason, these ever popular notes usually sit somewhere on the list of "must-haves" for any serious national banknote collector. Being able to own a Blue Seal Alaska national only ads to the bragging rights.pThe town of Fairbanks owes it name to Charles W. Fairbanks who held a large role in shaping what Alaska is today as large border disputes arose after the discovery of gold in the region at the end of the 19th century. It was that discovery, known as the Klondike Gold Rush, that was responsible for the large population boom in Alaska. The town of Fairbanks was settled in 1901 and saw spirited growth with this First National Bank of Fairbanks chartering in 1905. The bank issued currency throughout the small size period and although roughly 60 large size notes are known, they are all very tightly held. pThe note is well circulated, which is unlike the majority of the Red Seals known, or the PCGS 68PPQ blue seal we sold for nearly $130,000 in 2015.
