Bottom, TWENTY and DOLLARS on shaded banners, IN GOLD COIN bottom center under portrait. Extremely ornate bordering, 20 counters in corners with matching scroll details at ends. Engraved signatures of Vernon and Treat. Zero numbers perforated in both serial number blocks. A stunning face proof of the black and white engraving of this plate. Most distinctive and also the only we have seen. Hessler describes no known essays in private hands or public collections for the 1906 series. A very popular issued type note of course. A choice example exhibiting a super sharp impression and very petty wrinkling.
