These Gold Certificates were among the notes most susceptible to circulation, a fact that makes Superb Gem offerings such as this all the more important. There is no fading or other distractions anywhere on the bill. For a time, beginning in 1934, possession of Gold Certificates was illegal. Collectors could not collect them and dealers could not trade them until Amon Carter Jr. convinced Congress to change the law.
