New York--Rochester. JNO. H. ROCHESTENS / BANKING OFFICE / ROCHESTER N.Y. on an 1813 Mexico City 2 reales. Brunk R-424, Rulau NY-2285. Host coin VG.,Neatly punched over the bust of Ferdinand VII on the obverse. This counterstamp is not pictured in either Brunk or Rulau, and it is incorrectly described in both references as P.H. Rochesters Banking Office. This specimen apparently is finer than the original piece, and it is clear that the first name was Jno. (an old abbreviation of John), not P., and that the merchants surname is Rochensten, not Rochester. Appealing dark pearl gray toning with the devices highlighted in lighter tones.,Cardboard 2x2 included.,
