New York State Militia 25 Year Faithful Service Medal. Gold. 45 mm x 67 mm. 77.65 grams. About Uncirculated.,The medallion is formed from a five-armed, tri-pointed star with five rays between each point. On the points are the symbols for the original branches of the State Militia, and at the center a medallion with the New York State Seal surrounded with a ribbon inscribed FAITHFUL SERVICE / N.Y. The back is engraved with the number of the recipient, 1624, which online references indicate was Karl F. Jahn of the 108th Armored Infantry Battalion, who received his 25-year medal in 1955. The reverse of the badge is also inscribed FINE GOLD / DIEGES & CLUST. The medal is suspended from a 25 YEAR hanger which, while not marked with composition or fineness, appears to be of the same composition as the medal. Also included is a 25 inch maroon neck ribbon with deep blue stripes.
