In the field above the mountain is the inscription PRESENTED TO and below that is engraved THOMAS R. DYAR / OCTOBER 10, 1979. <strong>Rev:</strong> Inscribed FOR VALOR with a large eagle within a wreath protecting a man carrying an injured person to safety. Unmarked as to fineness, but a 1962 Department of the Interior Distinguished Service medal we sold in our August 2016 ANA sale tested at 16.4 karat.
