Choice Very Fine.；A very rare certificate printed in black on white paper. Palmetto tree at upper center with company title curved above. For ten $1000 shares held by H.L.P. McCormick. The company operated the steamers General Clinch and General Moultrie. Ships from the company were the first to break the Union blockade of Charleston. Company president William Ravenel was also a director of the Importing and Exporting Company of South Carolina. The company was a success and produced earning at least equal to its stock price during its time in business. This is a rare issue, likely high R-6 or low R-7 with around 5 to 6 known. This example displays just a few light folds on mostly bright paper.
