Extremely Fine.;Printed in blue and red on white paper watermarked WT&Co. Steam ship at upper center in blue with company name curved above in red. This certificate was for five $1000 shares issued to C.G. Mueller. The Consolidated Steamship Company owned the blockade runners Flora (I) and General Whiting. The Flora (I) made eleven successful runs while the General Whiting accomplished four. The company had a scandalous ending when company president Henry Hart fled to New York at the close of the war taking the firms assets with him. When stock holders attempted to reclaim their investment Hart took the stance that he could not be held responsible for a business that was illegal under United States law. Bold color and neatly penned manuscripts are seen on this certificate. Some light foxing is noticed. R-5 with approximately 15 known.
